Dr. Apsey, Warren, MI dentist, explains kor whitening

Hi, I’m Dr. Gregory Apsey, here in Warren, Michigan and again talking a little bit about 1 of the facets of cosmetic dentistry that we offer here in our office. What’s white in teeth today is a lot different from what was white 10, 15 years ago, people these days want super white teeth. And so we’ve had to address how do we get there, how do we help them get there?

For some patients we really need to put porcelain veneers on the teeth, and that works very well. But that’s a very expensive treatment. But really, in a patient who has natural front teeth that have just yellowed over time, we have found that kor whitening is a really wonderful way to whiten teeth. It’s a 2-step process. Starting with what’s done at home. Our patients start with, you might have seen, bleaching trays or whitening trays. They are soft rubber trays that are inserted into the mouth.

Small amount of bleach is applied into the tray. They can be used for an hour a night or as long as all night long and it depends on how quickly you wish to whiten the teeth. So the first step in kor whitening is the use of the tray at home. What happens is during that first two weeks of the treatment is the teeth are lightened quite a bit at home. The bleach we use is fairly strong. Especially the one that’s used for 1 hour each evening. So what happens is the teeth not only begin to whiten, with this part of the process, but they also become ready for the in office training.

We then follow after the 2 weeks is up. And during that period of time the patient is using a desensitizing agent on the teeth to make sure the teeth are comfortable during the procedure. And they’re using Sensodine pro-enamel toothpaste, which also helps to keep the sensitivity to a minimum. Sensitivity has been an issue with whitening. But it’s much better with the kor whitening technique. The end result is achieved by an in office treatment.

So our patients come in. They sit in our chair for an hour. And we apply a very concentrated bleach to the teeth. And we get super results. So, I’d like to offer this to you. Come on in. Ask us about kor whitening. And we’ll talk to you about the results. We’ll show you pictures, and see if it’s right for you. I’m Greggory Apsey, DDS here in Warren, Michigan. Thank you.
